In fact some customers prefer Hfe 40-50 for some reason.
Btw, If the Leakage current is higher does not mean it is a bad part.
Most High Hfe parts shows higher leakage current. Biasing right makes the noise level effective go down.

Always stored in Lab climate condition but the leads are not shiney anymore after 55 years.
Leakage is depending on the Hfe and Temperature. For most distortion/tone bender/fuzz application this is very acceptable and do not give any problem in sound or noise level.
Finding the right bias for the Ube for smooth operation is not too hard.
