Photograph Notes: Just a few weeks before this photograph was taken disaster hit construction work on the Cleddau Bridge killing four workmen and injuring five others - fortunately most of the debris missed the houses in Pembroke Ferry otherwise it could have been even worse. The bridge is a box girder design constructed by moving box sections along the partly built deck and lowering them into position. However on the 2nd June 1970 the pier where the box girder section was being lowered into place had been inadequately supported with the result seen here. It had been planned to complete the bridge in 1971 but in the end opening was delayed until March 1975.
