Impressive black sandstone/marble ca. 1900 American Ansonia clock
with hourly and half-hourly strike and rare
visible Brocot escapement brought forward through the dial

The clock is original, including pendulum, as far as it is possible to ascertain
The original key is missing, but a suitable one will be supplied on request at checkout.

Circular enamelled dial with Roman numerals - excellent condition
The case is in very good condition with only a few inconspicuous nicks at the odd corner or edge - see photos

The movement is marked:

Ansonia Clock Company
Patented June 14, 81
New York, USA

I only restore French clocks and am not familiar with Ansonia's history, so I can't date the clock precisely.
Based on the style, however, I believe it is late Victorian and no later than 1905.

The clock works as is but would benefit from the following measures:

Movement service, polishing and lubrication
Cleaning, blackening, polishing and protection of the case stone
Re-gilding of the detailing at the top and base of the case (see photos)

These things done, this clock will look absolutely fantastic - it is a very nice clock.

Measurements:
Dimensions: base 276 x 146 mm, height 364 mm; weight 11.5 kg
Bezel diameter: 154 mm
