This vintage anthropomorphic cookie jar is by PY. It is well known as "Cabbage Rose". It looks like a cabbage with tightly wrapped green leaves and at the front is a smiley flower-face. The flower is yellow with the center rimmed in a pale pink. On top of the lid is an unopened flower bud, which is the cookie jar's knob. There are some chips to this VHTF vintage cookie jar which have been touched up so when viewing the photos please use the zoom feature. There are a few are a few very tiny chips (mainly on the inside rim) but the larger ones are located on the tip of the leaf of the knob, the back left side on the rim of one leaf, at the back of the jar on one tip of a leaf, and on the underside of both handles. Although this jar has a few chips, it is quite a rare find!! Displays beautifully!!! This piece sits approximately 7 1/2 inches from bottom of base to the tip of the rose bud. Base alone is 5 1/4 inches high and 7 3/4 inches across from handle to handle (opening is 4 1/2 inches wide). The bottom is marked PY/Japan (along with another symbol).
