25 Years of the Jewish State Theater Polish People's Republic, edited by Szymon Szurmiej, with articles on the State theater 1949-1974, with photos of the actors, examples of the repetoires, pictures of productions, in b/w and color. A 46 p. "history" of the theater, with bios of famous actors and actresses is included in three languages. All texts reproduced in Polish, Yiddish and English. A commemorative of a time when non Jews went to watch non Jews perform in Yiddish, with simultaneous electronic translations. You had to be there, I guess. Maybe you were? This artifact is of interest to anyone interested in the Poylishe Tyatr, which Jews financed and played in. This troupe had some minor Jewish influence, but is more a commentary on Poland, tourism, post War Communism, Eastern Europe, a momento from relatively recent times. One small crease to cardboard cover, designed by Arkady, an initiative of the Ministry of Culture for the Polish people. The productions are inserts, separate signatures. One is creased but all are clean and intact. Not many of these floating around, as precious as followers of the State owned and operated Polish Yiddish theater in Warsaw. For Yiddish theater lovers everywhere.
