A glued typed paper reads: “ASSOCIATED PRESS PHOTO. From NEW YORK CAUTION WATCH CREDIT. SUR ARTHUR AT HOME. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, famous creator of Sherlock Holmes and one of the world’s greatest supporters of spiritualism, visualizes a virtually crimeless world as the result of the activities of the clairvoyant detective who will be “in attendance in every police station”. The above picture was taken shortly before Sir Arthur’s departure for South Africa in connection with his spiritualistic work. The great writer posed in his psychic museum, near Westminster Abbey, amidst his psychic pictures. MP-11/11/28” – Arthur Conan Doyle established a bookshop dedicated to Spiritualism in 1925, called The Psychic Bookshop. Five months after the opening, he announced the creation of a Psychic Museum under the bookshop, where he exhibited documentary material on famous mediums, paintings done in trance, spirit photos, and other objects related to spirit séances.
