As convincingly demonstrate our comparison images nr. 8-12 we are
probably dealing here with a work of well-known Parisian miniaturist,
Joseph François Leroy.
Joseph François Leroy (1768 Paris - 1829 Paris) was a pupil of Joseph
Benoit Suvée and - besides painting historical paintings - specialized
in painting of portraits in oil and in miniature. He was also active as
engraver and lithographer. From 1795 to 1827 he exhibited at the Salon
de Paris, where he showed miniatures only at his debut and at the last
Salon (of 1827).
