The full story of how the Purton Steam Carriage Road company came to build a substantial viaduct and then never lay track on it is told in the caption to [[[6503290]]]. John Bayes' [[[1284797]]] was taken from a roughly similar viewpoint nearly 50 years before my shot, in the year I was born!
