Diese 5 Euro Silbermünze ist die erste Ausgabe aus der neuen Serie "Dinosaurier von Portugal". Das Motiv zeigt den Pflanzenfresser Dinheirosaurus lourinhanensis. Umrandet wird das Design von den Aufschriften "Dinheirosaurus lourinhanensis", "JOANA BRUNO" und "CASA DA MOEDA". Die Rückseite zeigt einen Ausschnitt des gelenkigen Wirbels des Dinos, wie eine Spur von Fußabdrücken und die Silhouette des sich entfernenden Dinosauriers. Ebenso enthalten ist der Nennwert, das Staatswappen von Portugal sowie das Ausgabeland und Ausgabejahr. Als Besonderheit wurde die Silbermünze mit fluoreszierenden Farben bedruckt, sodass das Motiv im Dunkeln leuchtet. Der Dinheirosaurus lourinhanensis lebte vor etwa 150 Millionen Jahren in der Oberjura-Periode und war mit seinen ungefähr 25 Metern Körperlänge der wahrscheinlich längste Dinosaurier, der im heutigen Portugal lebte. Es wird von Forschern angenommen, dass er in Gruppen lebte und wahrscheinlich die meiste Zeit des Tages damit verbrachte, nach großen Mengen an Nahrung zu suchen. This 5 Euro silver coin from the new "Dinosaurs of Portugal" series is dedicated to the Dinheirosaurus lourinhanensis. The motive of the coin features the large dinosaur surrounded by the inscriptions "Dinheirosaurus lourinhanensis", "JOANA BRUNO" and "CASA DA MOEDA". The reverse depicts a detail of the dinosaur's articulated vertebra, as well as a trail of footprints and the silhouette of the dinosaur moving away. Also included in the design is the denomination, the national coat of arms of Portugal, and the country of issue and year of issue. The special feature of the coin is the in fluorescent colors printed motive, that glows in the dark. The Dinheirosaurus lourinhanensis lived about 150 million years ago in the Upper Jurassic period and was, with a body length of about 25 meters, probably the longest dinosaur that lived in what is now Portugal. It is believed by scientists that it lived in groups and probably spent most of the day searching for large amounts of food to eat.
