This is known as a Makonde Tree of Life or Ujamma carving which depitcs how villagers survive by working with nature and supporting each other across generations.
The centers of Makonde carving are in south-east Tanzania and in the capital Dar es Salaam. The statues are found in art collections worldwide.
This example is a great height and of a good weight, it has clearly been made with the finest quality. Carvings of this style date back to the early 20th century.
