Nato il 29 novembre 1932 a Parigi da genitori di Correze, Jacques Chirac ha avuto più di 40 anni di vita politica e ha ricoperto le più alte cariche della Repubblica.

Questa carriera iniziò nel 1962 quando entrò a far parte del gabinetto del primo ministro Georges Pompidou. Allo stesso tempo, è stato eletto Consigliere comunale a Correze.

Nel 1972 è stato nominato Ministro dell'Agricoltura sotto la presidenza di Georges Pompidou. Nel 1974 si alleò con Valery Giscard d'Estaing che, una volta eletto Presidente, lo nominò Primo Ministro. È entrato nell'Assemblea nazionale dove è stato eletto deputato nel 1976. È stato il primo sindaco di Parigi ad essere eletto a suffragio universale nel 1977. Jacques Chirac è stato poi nominato Primo Ministro nel 1986 durante il mandato presidenziale di Francois Mitterrand.

Nel 1995 Jacques Chirac è stato eletto Presidente della Repubblica. Nel 2002 è stato in gran parte rieletto di fronte a Jean-Marie Le Pen. Nel 2007 ha deciso di non candidarsi per la rielezione e si è dedicato alla sua fondazione creata nel 2008. Si è spento il 26 settembre 2019 all'età di 86 anni.

Sul dritto della moneta, il politico ha una posa solenne che fa riferimento alla sua elezione a Presidente della Repubblica francese nel 1995. Jacques Chirac è circondato da simboli che hanno segnato la sua storia, come il suo Sigillo, che fa riferimento alle sue due presidenziali mandati, e Chupicaro, emblema del Museo Quai Branly, che rimanda alla passione di Jacques Chirac per le Arti Primitive.

Born on November 29th, 1932 in Paris to parents from Correze, Jacques Chirac had more than 40 years of political life and held the highest offices of the Republic.

This career began in 1962 when he joined the cabinet of Prime Minister Georges Pompidou. At the same time, he was elected Municipal Councillor in Correze.

In 1972, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture under the presidency of Georges Pompidou. In 1974, he joined forces with Valery Giscard d’Estaing who, once elected President, appointed him Prime Minister. He entered the National Assembly where he was elected Deputy in 1976. He was the first mayor of Paris to be elected by universal suffrage in 1977. Jacques Chirac was then appointed Prime Minister in 1986 during the presidential term of Francois Mitterrand.

In 1995, Jacques Chirac was elected President of the Republic. In 2002, he was largely re-elected facing Jean-Marie Le Pen. In 2007, he decided not to stand for re-election and devoted himself to his foundation created in 2008. He passed away on September 26th, 2019 at the age of 86.  

On the obverse of the coin, the politician has a solemn pose that refers to his election of President of the French Republic in 1995. Jacques Chirac is surrounded by symbols that have marked his history, such as his Seal, which refers to his two presidential mandates, and Chupicaro, emblem of the Quai Branly Museum, which refers to Jacques Chirac's passion for Primitive Arts.
