1970 Chevrolet Chevelle Car Craft “Cheap Street” - Yellow

Introduced in 1964, the Chevelle was Chevrolet's answer to the Ford Fairlane in the midsize car market. While most were built primarily as economical family cars, the Chevelle quickly found its place as a muscle car in the 2 door sport coupe and convertible Malibu.  The car had a host of engine options from the standard “Stove Bolt” straight six to the 396 with the Z16 option. The 454 LS6 was made available in 1970.

Car Craft Magazine selected a 1970 Chevelle in 1994 for a restoration project on a budget.  They looked around and found just the right car with a 350 engine and a heavy duty 12 bolt rear axle.  What they came up with was a car that did better in the quarter mile than the LS6.

Offered in 1:18 scale is the Car Craft 1970 Chevelle “Cheap Street” sport coupe by Exact Detail in Daytona Yellow with blackout stripes along the length of the hood and trunk, black vinyl top, and black interior.  It is being pointed out that although the Car Craft Chevelle has a 350 V-8 under the hood, Exact Detail used the 454 LS6 engine with the induction cowl hood found in the other 1970 Chevelle models that they did.

  • The hood opens to reveal a 454 cid LS6 V-8 engine
  • The engine is plumbed and wired
  • The doors open to a well detailed interior
  • The front wheels turn with the steering wheel
  • Real rubber tires
  • The trunk opens without a spare tire (that would be unwanted weight in a drag race)
  • Little details such as cad plating on the power brake vacuum booster,  windshield washer fluid level, opening induction cowl, fuel and brake lines, sun visors that flip up and down, seat belt buckles, crimping of the exhaust pipes complete with C-clamps, and decals under the hood, rear deck lid, and on the driver's door

It is a super model for the money that measures about 10-¾ inches bumper to bumper. It is new in its original box with its numbered certificate.  The box does have some minor shelf wear.
