present-day countries of Bahrain, Cyprus, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq,
Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestinian Territory, Qatar,
Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, and Yemen.

A table lists ethno-linguistic groups, and among the peoples described
on the map are the Hazara, Pashtun, Bedouin, Druze, Jew, Persian, Kurd,
Lur, Turk, and more.

The reverse side of the map narrates the history
of the region, with inset maps, including the Holy Land today.

The map was published as a supplement to the July 1972 issue of National
Geographic Magazine. It folds to approximately 6" x 9" and
has a handsome illustration
on the cover.
