I Love Lucy Danbury Mint Scarce Test Market Lucille Ball Collector Plate & Box

Manufactured in 2003 by the Danbury Mint, this is the most uncommon of all "I Love Lucy" collector plates.

This plate was advertised in the coupon section of Sunday newspapers in just a few test market cities in the United States in 2003.  Because the initial sales number was low, the Danbury Mint produced enough plates to meet the initial orders and then decided to quietly not move forward with a national promotion.  Because this plate was only "tested" in select cities and then abruptly retired, the production was very low, making it an uncommon Lucy collectible today.

Plate is in excellent condition, with original styrofoam packaging, paperwork, numbered certificate, and wooden plate holder.

Fun design showcases several of Lucy Ricardo's most memorable misadventures including getting her foot stock on a ballet barre, impersonating Harpo Marx, wrestling in a grape vat, posing as a wicked city woman, and finding herself locked in a freezer.

Plate measures 12" across.  Vibrant colors and trimmed in metallic gold.
