Illustrated by port tissue frontis of Edward Staniford Rogers, and 101 inserted color plates (collated): 91 plates of grape varieties; 7 plates of shoots; 1 plate of 12 seed illustrations; 1 plate of 3 grape flowers; 1 plate of 10 canes. First edition. State of New York, Department of Agriculture, 15th Annual Report, Vol. 3, Part II. This is the entire NY grape report of the New York Agricultural Experiment Station for the year 1907. Original green buckram, gilt embossed title on cover and spine. Bibliography, Index. Contents: Old World Grape, American Grapes, Viticulture of New York, Species of American Grapes, Leading Varieties of American Grapes, Minor Varieties of American Grapes. NYAES published seven important 'fruit reports': Beach's Apples (1905, 2-Vol 8vo), followed by Hedrick's series of six eventual volumes beginning with Grapes (1908), Plums (1911), Cherries (1915), Peaches (1917), Pears (1921), Small Fruits (1925) all with titles followed by "of New York". Some wear to cover small sticker on spine. Plate inside is inscribed as "Gift of Dr. E. M. East, Bussey Institution of Harvard University, May 23, 1912." and also has the name "E. B. Wilson, Nov. 18, 1936" written on endpaper. The cover shows the start of separation. There is some age spotting/ very light wear throughout, and on the index of illustration pages there are some light pencil marks next to some of the illustration titles. Absolutely gorgeous illustrations. Some small penciled numbers on back endpaper.
