The Indonesia 20,000 Rupiah Banknote was issued in 1998 in preparation for a projected surge in demand for cash following the Y2K bug which did not happen. This 20,000-rupiah banknote is mostly green in color and measures 152 x 72 mm. The front side shows Ki Hadjar Dewantara, a proponent of the independence movement and education for native Indonesians around the early to mid-1900s. Meanwhile, the back side depicts a room of children studying in class at a school in Yogyakarta called Taman Siswa or Garden of Students.
