The Romania 500,000 Lei banknote is part of the 2000-2004 issues. It is yellow, green, blue, and orange in color and measures 165 x 76 mm. The obverse side shows the coat of arms, an edelweiss flower (Leontopodium alpinum), a starburst as a registration device, a BNR monogram, an airplane propeller, Aurel Vlaicu, and a vertical stripe in gold OVI with a BNR pattern and a latent image of Aurel Vlaicu monument in Bănești. The reverse side features a BNR monogram, the Vlaicu II airplane, a motor, the head of the mountain eagle (Aquila chrysaetos), a starburst, and a BNR monogram. This banknote uses a simulated solid security thread and contains a shadow image watermark with an Aurel Vlaicu and a BNR monogram design. It is graded 66 by the Paper Money Guarantee (PMG).
