Photograph Notes: The blacksmiths forge had been completely stripped after the pumping station closed in 1971; the wooden floor had rotted away and the roof had collapsed in places. All of the machinery from the workshop and forge had been to another museum. This was returned after the Claymills Pumping Engines Trust began restoration of the site in 1993. The first item to be restored was the steam hammer.
