The development goal is to improve braking performance compared to the original brake disc. EBC uses low carbon HPSR steel with an 18% higher coefficient of friction. This steel is much more resistant to rust than cast steel. In addition, the entire surface is protected by a 3 micron thick zinc layer, which is abraded in the area of ​​the pad contact zone during braking. Only in this area can rust form more easily during extended life.

The brake discs are drilled in Vogelschwingendesign to fit in with as few holes as possible, while optimizing the cleaning of the brake disc from rainwater and brake dust. The fewer holes fitted, the better the wet braking and the less wear.
