"The Spirit of Zen: A Way of Life, Work and Art in the Far East" is a 137 page (plus 2 pages of publisher's ads), 4.75"x6.75" hardcover written by Alan W. Watts and published in February, 1955 in London by John Murray, as part of the Wisdom of the East Series. This is the second edition, and third printing - it first appeared in 1936, with a second printing in 1948. The author explores the Buddhist concept of Zen; he would revisit the subject in several subsequent books (see our other items where one of these may still be available).

The book is in good condition. The dust jacket is worn, with several small chips and tears, at the edges and extremities, is stained on the front and back, darkened at the spine. The front flap is price-clipped. The yellow cloth boards show light edge wear, a minor stain at front top, minor bump to the front top corner. The spine is a bit cocked. There are a couple small marks to the first page.
