WHITE HUN EMPIRE BLUE CABOCHON RING INTAGLIO GEMSTONE SEAL - MALE NOBEL 5TH - 8TH A.D.

Weighs 1 gram, measures 14 mm by 11 mm, 6 mm thick.

From my collection originally from a collection of engraved gems; acquired on the European art market in the late 1970s.

Fine condition.

A White Hun representation of a king or noble man.  The gemstone is dark blue lapis lazuli stone that would have been set in a ring, pendant or brooch.

Would make an excellent addition to any ancient intaglio collection or for to restore ancient ring, pendant or brooch.

Don't miss it!

Offers welcome.

The Hephthalites (Bactrian: ηβοδαλο, romanized: Ebodalo), sometimes called the White Huns, were a people who lived in Central Asia during the 5th to 8th centuries CE. They formed an empire, the Imperial Hephthalites, and were militarily important from 450 CE, when they defeated the Kidarites, to 560 CE, when combined forces from the First Turkic Khaganate and the Sasanian Empire defeated them. After 560 CE they established "principalities" in the area of Tokharistan, under the suzerainty of the Western Turks (in the areas north of the Oxus) and of the Sasanian Empire (in the areas south of the Oxus), before the Tokhara Yabghus took over in 625.
