This is USGS Bulletin 922-D, Chromite Deposits of Grant County, Oregon. Published in 1940, there can’t be many of these around anymore. This publication consists of the 39-page book and ALL SIX OF THE ORIGINAL MAPS, four of which are foldout maps bound into the book, and the other two of which are in a pocket in the back of the book. All are in excellent condition, and several have nice colors. Some of the maps are of specific mine workings. Quite a number of mines in this area are discussed in the book, including:

Chambers mine

Iron King mine

Black Velvet deposit

Dry Camp mine

Marks and Thompson mine

Ray mine

Ajax mine

Bald Eagle deposit

Celebration mine

Ward mine

Kingsley mine

Powers mine

Howard prospects

Sheep Rock deposits

Ray prospects

Read and Campbell mines

Silver Lease mine

Glasscock claims

Hankins (Spring and Chrome Ridge) mine

Delore prospects

And others!

This publication makes not only a great guide for the collector wanting to visit this area, but also a unique historical record of this district. This is a rare publication on an interesting and historical mining area. This is a rare opportunity for the collector of Oregon minerals, the historian, or anyone that wants to give the area a crack!
