Blending old and new, Converse paired with fashion platform Slam Jam to unveil the Slam Jam x Chuck 70 High 'Reconstructed' in April 2019. The recognizable high-top is reimagined to tells the story of a well-worn Chuck. Featuring a 'fresh out of the box' black hue on the lateral side and a faded medial side, the silhouette flaunts visible stitching at the back and along the tongue to connect the contrasting panels. A rubber midsole and outsole continue the theme down below to finish the look.

Slam Jam recently dropped off a hand-dyed collection with Brain Dead, and now the Italian brand has worked with Converse on a pair of “Reconstructed” Chuck 70 sneakers. The new styles take on a “Frankenstein”-esque aesthetic marked by prominent stitched lines that offer two looks in one shoe.

There is a navy and black version, as well as a white and beige edition in the upcoming pack. The darker iteration of the duo features all-black on the lateral side of the shoe and blue on the medial, while stitching from the tongue to the toe cap evokes a dual design. A colorblocked midsole continues the split effect, in addition to the outsole which is halfway coated in blue. Exposed stitching is added on the back heel and at the branding patch on the side panels to complete the sewn-on look. Meanwhile, the lighter style breaks up the silhouette between the top half of the upper (crafted in white canvas) and the bottom (colored beige). Stitched details rest at the quarter panel to “hold” each compartment in place, while the mended Converse emblem rounds it all out.

The Converse “Reconstructed” Chuck 70 launches on April 13 exclusively at the Converse Studio 70 pop-up powered by Slam Jam in Milan. It will be available for purchase at Slam Jam’s website and store beginning April 15.

One of my favorite “vintage discoveries” is when I find a piece of DEADSTOCK VINTAGE.It’s like finding a diamond amongst the jewels: I’m already so satisfied with the vintage finds I’m discovering, but then I see a shimmer that truly makes my heart beat faster — a piece of vintage with the original tags.Deadstock vintage are called as such because they have “passed away” [i.e. died] from the original stock where they previously existed [i.e. lived] in a store. The piece of vintage clothing was never sold from that store for whatever reason — perhaps it was a piece of sale clothing that was unbought, or the store/boutique/department store chain fell bankrupt and its remaining inventory found its way to a thrift store or the hands of a vintage boutique owner.
