“The New Mozart Edition” (NMA) – or to give it its full title, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, New Edition of the Complete Works – is the scholarly-critical complete edition of all works by the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756–1791). It comprises 132 volumes containing 25,000 pages of music, 8,000 pages of critical commentaries, 2,300 pages of forewords and 1,800 pages of documents. It constitutes the definitive, internationally-recognised edition  for all those wishing to study the works of Mozart.

The “The New Mozart Edition”, published by Bärenreiter between 1956 and 2007, presents a scholarly musical text based on all the available sources; principally Mozart’s manuscripts. It meets the needs of  both scholars and  performers wishing to undertake authentic performances. The main Series I to IX , published between 1956 and 1991 contain Mozart’s entire completed works and are regarded as a supreme achievement of recent Mozart research. Modern interpretations of his works would be unthinkable without this edition. Important volumes in the supplement series have shed new light on previously little-considered aspects of Mozart’s work, such as his work as a teacher or arranger of other composers’ works.

The edition, which was completed in 2007, comprises 132 volumes in 35 work groups, arranged in ten series. Within the work groups, the completed works are published in chronological order. Sketches, drafts and fragments of works are included in the appendix of each respective volume. Each music volume contains the musical text of the work together with a detailed foreword and facsimile reproductions from the source material. Each music volume is accompanied by a separate critical commentary.

The editorial department of the “The New Mozart Edition” is located in the Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg. The edition is supported by this foundation and the Deutsche Mozart-Gesellschaft.
