Natural Iridescent Fossil Ammonite, Cleoniceras sp.

From the Cretaceous period about 180 million years old.

From Ambatolafia, Mahajanga, Madagascar.

Weighs 106.9 grams.

About 70mm at its longest point by 53mm across and 20mm at its thickest.

There is a piece of shell missing at the top which lets you see the sutures and honey coloured calcite.

The iridescence is opal-like and is completely natural, like the inside of an abalone shell.
