Stamps "The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve" stamp of Ukraine 2018

The Carpathian Biosphere Reserve is located within the Zakarpattia region. It covers an area of ​​58,035 hectares. Together with the transit zone, it is part of the UNESCO International Network of Biosphere Reserves and presents all the landscape and biological diversity of the Ukrainian Carpathians. Its primeval beech forests form the largest part of the transnational UNESCO World Heritage Site "Primitive Beech Forests and Ancient Forests of the Carpathians and Other Regions of Europe". The reserve is the only one in Ukraine awarded by the Council of Europe with the European diploma for nature conservation activities. The reserve has 64 plant species and 72 animal species listed in the Red Book of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and the Red Book of Ukraine, as well as in the European Red List.
