Handsome, antique chair and ottoman set salvaged from
Northeastern Pennsylvania. The wooden frames are made of either walnut or
mahogany and they have a dark stain. Both pieces are upholstered with a canvas
or burlap fabric and have a beautiful, floral, needlepoint design. The fabric is
secured by a series of round, hammered, brass-plated steel grommets (tacks).
Our carpenter inspected the chair and
ottoman from top to bottom, and didn't need to make any repairs. He didn't need to glue or tighten anything else as the chair
is
strong and sturdy. He pointed out a repair on the leg of the ottoman which he
said was well done. They not only glued the leg, but they reinforced it with a
curved, steel strap/plate and screws (see last photo).
The chair and ottoman are in excellent condition with only nicks,
light
scratches, and small spots of worn finish that you would expect to find on an old, used
furniture.
There are no breaks,
cracks, dents, gouges, rot, or warp.
The fabric is fully intact and clean
with no rips, tears, odors, or stain. Even the webbing
under the seat is fully intact and well-secured.
This elegant set is ready for another lifetime
of service.
