Rare Vintage Tepco China Oval Platter Measures 11 1/2 inches across and 9 1/4 inches up and down. Hard to find “Confucius” pattern. The lovely design features a striking Chinese landscape with red temple pagoda, and the classic bridge over water scene.

It is made of heavy glossy ceramic, strong and sturdy vintage restaurant ware. Airbrushed design of green, black and red, this 1950s Tepco pattern is full of traditional Chinese imagery and symbology.

It is concave to hold liquids and is slightly footed, standing 1.5 inches tall. Stamped on back with the green Tepco USA China mark.

Tepco produced many fine and sturdy hotel and restaurant ware serving pieces from the 1930s-1960s. The company closed in 1968. Once a major West Coast producer of restaurant ware and El Cerrito's largest employer, Technical Porcelain and China Ware Company lives on in its legacy of sturdy dishes. TEPCO supplied not only the hospitality industry, but had contracts with the U.S. government to produce ware for the Navy, Army and Veterans Administration.

The is a wonderful example of vintage mid century restaurant ware, a scarce Confucius serving platter.

There are two what I would consider to be manufacturer defects. The first is in the paint. There is a little white spot On the lower left with a Little dimple and on the upper left is a raised oval shaped area which is smooth.

No cracks or chips. When placed just right in the light the finish will reveal very superficial scratching throughout.
