throughout, and the map shows railroads and streetcar lines, schools,
and public buildings.
- Named railroads include the Nashville, Chattanooga
& St. Louis
and the Louisville & Nashville, as well as the Nashville
& West
Nashville Dummy and the Overland Dummy Railroads.
- Dashed lines show horse-drawn streetcar lines, one of
which crossed the Cumberland River near the Court
House and continued along Woodland Street on the other side.
- Other named place and features on the map include the
Union Stock
Yards, City Cemetery, Vanderbilt University, State Penitentiary,
Tennessee School for the Blind, St. Cloud Hill, Gallatin Turnpike, City
Reservoir, State Capitol, Orphan Asylum, St. Bernard Convent, Shelby's
Pond, and more.
