Portable ,dual fuel is a big plus since we bought this for our camper. Great price. Only thing it wouldn't start . Found our it was shipped with the spark plug wire disconnected. Is this normal? Nothing anywhere in the instructions. Cranked on first try after connecting plug wire.

I've used it once at a family reunion and I must say I was well pleased. The sound were at a minimal and could hardly hear it. I used the propane and still had plenty left after running it about 6 hours. I had a movie projector, DVD player, a HDMI audio converter and portable speaker running at the same time with no problem at all. I used a 25 feet 10 gauge yellow extension cord running from the inverter. So far so good, will be using it again in the near future and will give an update if needed.

Great Inverter Generator

I bought this as a small home backup unit in case of power outage. I tested it and it will run our sump pump, fridge, freezer (only tested 1 at a time). It also makes clean power so it is safe for charging phones, powering computers, etc. It is very quiet, sounds the same as my friends Yamaha 2000. I love that it will run on propane and I will never have gas related issues but could run gas if I had to. For the price, you can't go wrong. Build quality is very good. It even has a cast aluminum valve cover rather than cheap stamped steel that you see so much now. Time will tell how it hold up but I intend to use if for backup or occasional camping. Great all around unit if you are going to own 1 generator.

It's hard to find an inverter generator that uses propane and this one was at a great price. Works very well; powers the tools we use and I love the portability. Louder than I thought it would be; but not excessively so and this is my first experience with an inverter so that may just be the way they are. Shipping was fast. I would recommend.

Limited use so far, but does not disappoint

Setup was easy as others described - just add oil. I added a bit less than the 12 ounces indicated in the manual so as not to overflow.I bought it primarily to use with the spare propane tank on my trailer, and in that regard it does not disappoint. After letting it warm up a bit I plugged in my trailer's shore power cord while the generator was running in ECO mode and tested a medium load: toaster. Worked with no problem. I turned off ECO mode and tried to run my trailer's 9K BTU air conditioner. Surprisingly the generator took the startup load and supplied enough power to sustain the AC without going into overload. A Kill-A-Watt meter showed the power requirements of the AC at about 1,200 startup and 1,100 steady.Later I ran it side-by-side with a friend's Honda EU2000i. While the Honda was noticeably quieter when both were on ECO mode it wasn't a huge difference. And under load the difference was even less noticeable.

Tried to purchase this from Home Depot and Sams, but neither would ship to CA. I read a review that said his arrived in CA with a 'CARB compliant' sticker, so I knew the retailers were wrong. Hooked it up to propane and it started right away. Does not come with oil, so purchase a quart for break in. Let it run 10minutes without a load. Turned it off to let it cool and then restarted it and put a 1500 watt load on it-no hesitation. Light enough to carry and no odor when using propane, so can put inside my enclosed truck bed. Delivery was late, so I was given a credit. Walmart has excellent service.

Excellent machine. We use it only with propane and have found it to be a great addition to our trailer. The only problem is there is no good way to remove excess engine oil - it dribbles all over the outlet. This needed to be done because the instructions DID NOT say how much oil to add before startup and we had over filled it.

Got this on sale for under $600.00 The dual fuel option is huge . I put oil in in Hooked it up to a propane tank and it started with one pull. Very quiet You can store it in your house or garage with no smell when you dont have to use gasoline or worry about stale fuel

Our use is exclusively Propane [PLG]. It worked, after filling-up the oil, right out of the box, starting right up on the first pull. Noise level was within spec. and the unit we received was already labelled CARB compliant, even though the website said: 'NON-CARB' compliant - CARB is a rather 'uninspired' regulator attempt IMHO, so we don't really care, but it was a nice bonus. Ran reliably for many hours, automatically load-adjusted, and the 'saving' mode worked well, and ran significantly quieter. All, in all, a fair value for what we received. A pure LPG model in the this form-factor would be more desirable, and less expensive, but none are yet available! We prefer LPG for because of the better fuel storage, and significantly 'sweeter' exhaust characteristics!

Gen2200DFI - Enough for power outages

I live in a hurricane prone area and bought this little guy for power outages. I calculated that I wanted to run around 1450 running watts at my highest usage. I was a little worried about the surge. I hooked it up to propane for a test run when it arrived. It ran everything and handled the surges without any problems. I decided to push it a little, I added another 85 watts and a room fan (unknown wattage), it still handled the surge. In the end I was running an 8,000 BTU window unit (660 watts), a 6 year old refrigerator (598w), 39' and 60' LED TVS, satelite boxes, 2 table lamps with LED bulbs, a phone charger, and a room fan. I'm extremely pleased with the performance. I live in a tight neighborhood so the lower noise level of a small inverter gen is helpful. If the fuel consumption is correct, it makes it possible to keep 2-3 days of propane on hand.I can't speak for the longevity of the unit, but I wanted to share my experience of what it will power.

This is the only 2000W generator capable of using LPG and is well made. The engine is identical to the Yamaha 79cc engine used in other machines. I have ran it now for 20 hours and it will run all items at 1500 to 1800W. The best part is theer is no gasoline smell and the unit can be stored indoors. I know there are many people looking for a versatile generator but this one has to be considered at the top. It's small powerful and can run on propane for many hours. Changing the oil and removing the spark plug is simple so maintenance is not a burden. The 12V charging cables for batteries is a bonus as well as the USB for cell phone charging. This will be a great addition to your tool shed. The best thing is the price$$. It's less then half the price of the big name generators and with a Yamaha engine who can not turn it down. It shipped quickly and I received it in no time. We recently had a bad ice storm and no power and the generator ran like a top for 10 hours straight on a tank of propane.

initial test run- yes it is quiet. ac voltage output 125 volts/ dc 14.5 volts. generally pleased. only negative, the oil fill/ drain should be outside of the side cover to make servicing easier.

geat little generator

i was weary on buying this generator at first but bought it. put il and gas in it and primed the primer and started right up. i was actually amazed at how quiet this little thing is. i ran a 4 foot shop light on this thing for 7 1/2 hours and still didn`t run out of gas. it was low but never had any problem with it so far. i would recommend this to about anyone. we use it on weekends at the flea markets to power light at nite and when cold will run my torpedo heater to keep warm and fan during the hot days to keep cool. hope everyone that buys one has as much luck as i am having

Light use, light weight, small cost, quiet!

This isnt a home backup generator, so dont expect it to perform like one. But it is great for camping and small power requirements. Its lightweight, about 20lbs., and quieter than I expected at any load. I bought it to occasionally use my battery charger for my RV. Its stored where theres no power, so want to keep the battery charged when not in use. 12 volt port and cables that came with it seem to be too erratic, so will plug in my charger. I have a Greenworks 300 watt 60 volt battery power station and use the Sportsman to charge those batteries away from home. I also have a 600-900-1500 watt heater, so gave it the test. Turned heater to 600 watts, the overload light flickered during the initial surge, then settled down to run the heater no problem. 900 watts resulted in overload and shut down (as I expected). Should have no problems at 700-800 running watts. Lastly, there may be residual oil (dirty) from factory, so be sure to do the initial break-in and oil change. My first oil change at 3 hours was dirty. Second oil change at 2 hours was nearly clean. Now its good to go for many hours. Oh, btw, dont overfill with oil! 7.5 oz. only!

Great unit with a minor problem

You have a minor problem with this gen1000i, I tried using the DC charger adapter and when I hooked it to my battery there was a good size ark from the clamp. What I found when I check to see if there was voltage at the clamps they were dead no voltage. What I found when I checked for a fuse inside the housing it was blown .Next I checked to see if there was voltage going to the rectifier and there was 16 volts Ac. When I check for voltage from the output side there was 16 volts DC. HERE's the where you have the problem, the outlet for the DC jack has the polarity is wrong. The PLUS is the red wire going to the outlet but your adapter that plugs into it is molded wrong because the BLACK battery clamp has PLUS voltage when it should be NEGITIVE. So here is how I fixed it, I switch the RED and Black wire coming from rectifier. Now the DC jack is marked wrong or the adapter is molded wrong. see pictures.

Looks great so far, comes with everything you need but oil and gas. Filled with oil and gas, cranked on second pull. Runs much quieter than other generators I've had. I'm using it to run my 15 amp battery charger to power my 12 volt system batteries on my motorhome. Running fans, tv and lights off a 750 watt inverter. The black and Decker smart charger doesn't load up the generator hardly at all so far.

Feel I made a good decision

Here's my experience. Shipping was on time. Upon inspection even though the Styrofoam packing had been severely tested. The generator was fully in tact. I purchased this generator for several reasons. But I mainly purchased it for the duel fuel inverter power feature. We live rural and have a couple of generators on hand, for those times of need. Clean power to run our electronics was a need I had been looking to fulfill. So when an opportunity to do a remote photoshoot came along. It helped push me over the edge to do the research necessary. The generator had to be portable but powerful enough to run all my on site needs. The idea of not carrying gasoline into the woods would be a plus. After looking at the many options available. I decided on the Sportsman 2200 duel fuel. So how did it perform? First I read the instructions from cover to cover. After filling the generator with the recomend amount and type of motor oil. I connected the LP tank to the generator with the provided regulator hose assembly. Making sure to purg the hose at the generator connection. (Before I did this. I made sure there was no possible ignition source anywhere around me. Including my electronic cell phone). Once done I followed the instructions and turned on the power switch. Kept the Eco switch off. Kept the gasoline shut off valve in the off position. Pulled out the choke. Gave the starter rope two quick pulls and the generator fired right up. It only took seconds to be able to push the choke all the way back in. Ran the generator for a hour no load. Let it completely cool back down. Afterwards I took it to the the photoshoot location. During the entire photoshoot It ran absolutely flawlessly for me. Its going to be nice to have around for our clean power needs. It's not loud but you definitely know a motor is running nearby. It's not light, but just like the noise level. It's not to much to deal with. Now let's see how long the honeymoon lasts.

Take the time to read the manual. Take the cover off and check the oil level. It's annoying to have to take the cover off to check the oil, but it is the only downside to this generator. I used it with my Harbor Freight heat gun to shrink heat-shrink tubing out in the field while working on my solar panels. It was fantastic. Fired right up. I've use it a few times since then. Quiet. Lightweight. And it's how much?

Surely there is a mistake here. An inverter generator this small and lightweight cannot be less than $600. Comparable units *start* at $700 and rapidly go up from there. This unit is super quiet, easy to start, has a full replacement part list, good manual and simply works. I keep looking for the 'but' and cannot find one. Maybe it doesn't work for penguins by not being flipper friendly, but even then this thing starts easily so I think it would work.I picked up a rolling soft sided tool bag from Harbor Freight that this fits in perfectly and has roomade for a small extension cord, oil, fuel stabilizer, small 120v led clip on light, etc. Carry some fuel separately and your good. It really has no right in being as good as it is. I am tempted to get a couple more.
