Photograph Notes: On the 12th March 1976 the Leith-based fishing boat LH 222 Karemma broke down off Aberdeen harbour in a gale and very rough sea and was subsequently washed onto the beach. The five man crew was rescued by Aberdeen lifeboat following which the Second Coxswain of the lifeboat crew was awarded the RNLI's Bronze Medal for gallantry and another crew member was also recognised for their seamanship skill and efficiency during the rescue.
