Die 2 Euro-Münze in Stempelglanz-Qualität ist dem 25. Gründungstag des Europäischen Währungsinstituts gewidmet. Das Motiv der Münze aus Belgien zeigt ein Porträt des ersten Präsidenten der Institution, Alexandre Lamfalussy. In der Mitte des Münzbilds befindet sich die Aufschrift "EMI" und darüber das Gründungsjahr "1994". Darüber hinaus sind mehrere aufeinander fallende Münzen mit den Beschriftungen "€", "ECU" und "BEF" zu erkennen. Am oberen Rand der Münze ist der Schriftzug "European Monetary Institute" aufgeprägt. Das Europäische Währungsinstitut war der Vorgänger der heutigen Europäischen Zentralbank und fokussierte sich auf die Vorbereitung eines einheitlichen Geldmarkts sowie die Stärkung der Finanzstabilität in der Europäischen Union. Alexandre Lamfalussy, der auch als einer der "Gründungsväter" des Euros bekannt ist, setzte sich als Präsident stark für eine einheitliche Währung und Finanzpolitik ein. Die Lieferung der Münze erfolgt in einer Blisterkarte mit wallonischer und deutscher Aufschrift.

This uncirculated 2 euro coin is dedicated to the 25th Anniversary of the European Monetary Institute. The motive of the coin from Belgium features a portrait of the first President of the institution, Alexandre Lamfalussy. In the center of the motive are the lettering 'EMI' and the year of the foundation '1994'. Furthermore, several coins, which are falling on top of each other, are depicted with the inscriptions '€', 'ECU' and 'BEF'. On the upper edge of the coin, the English name of the institution 'European Monetary Institute' is imprinted. The European Monetary Institute is the former version of the European Central Bank, which was focused on the preparation of an unified money market and strengthening the financial stability within the European Union. Alexandre Lamfalussy, who is well-known for being one of the founding fathers of the euro, was deeply involved in unifying the currency and finance policies in Europe as the President of the European Monetary Institute. The 2 Euro coin is delivered in a blistercard with Walloon and German inscriptions.
