The Greeks are known to have used Propolis for abscesses, Assyrians for healing wounds and the ancient Egyptians as a preservative during embalming and purification prior to mummification.

In fact, propolis was listed as an official drug in the London pharmacopoeias of the 17th century.

Propolis contains as many as 250 active compounds. 

For thousands of years folk medicine practitioners have used bee glue to treat abscesses, heal wounds, and fight infection. 

Laboratory testing has confirmed that propolis is: 

antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, antioxidant and antithrombotic.

The main chemical classes found in propolis are flavonoids, phenolics and terpenes. 

Galangin is one of the most effective antibiotics we have, and it is a natural substance! 

The phenolic ester present in propolis is receiving much attention by medical researchers because of its potential for the treatment of a number of disorders, including spinal cord injury 

as well as immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory and antiviral activities. 

Propolis also has anaesthetizing properties.

 It has a powerful anti-inflammatory action and may be helpful for arthritic conditions. This is due to caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) that inhibits the lipoxygenase pathway of arachidonic acid that causes inflammation. 

Topical treatment: Medical studies have shown that topical application of propolis helps against genital herpes, cold sores, dental caries, periodontal disease, and rheumatoid arthritis, eczemas, scars, psoriasis and fungal infections like ringworm and athlete’s foot. Propolis preparations can be applied to cuts, scratches and surgical wounds. A propolis ointment is ideal for external use, especially on dry, scaly skin conditions and scar.

The ointment is applied in a combination therapy of:

— Chronic eczema, dermatitis;

— Itching dermatoses

- Muscle pain, Back Pain, Arthritis

- Soothing lesions and injuries of the anal mucosa (itching, swelling, small fissures) - hemorrhoids

The pharmaceutical product was resistant to seven of the fungi, an issue not displayed by propolis.

Contraindications.

How to use: the ointment should be use topically to the skin 3 times a day and carefully spread until absorbed through the skin.
