Casino Gaming Chip
from
MEDITERRANEAN SHIPPING COMPANY

Found on board their cruise ship ms MSC Seaside (Dec. 2017-Present)

Official MSC company Dollar Chip used on board the ship's casino: "Miami Casino".

Very handsome poker chip with no maker's mark.

The color is baby blue with a smooth center with black print:
$1, the ship's logo & Company name.

Impressions of playing card suits adorn the perimeter.
Edge is smooth. The obverse is the same design.

Chip measures approx. 1 9/16" dia. (40 mm) x 1/8" thick (3 mm).

This chip has seen it's fair share of pots and may have minor blemishes
that one gets being stacked and tossed about a table.
But still in Very Good to Excellent condition.

FYI: Mediterranean International Shipping currently ranking the second largest container company.

Its subsidiary MSC Cruises was formed in 1987 (Originally established under the name Flotta Lauro) and is based in Naples.
Created when Gianlucci Aponte, owner of MSC, acquired Starlauro (renamed Mediterranean Shipping
Company is a Geneva-based firm and one of the world's biggest players
in Shipping Company (MSC) in 1995),
a one-ship cruise line whose fleet consisted of the Achille Lauro (which had been hijacked by Palestinian terrorists in 1986).

This first ship continued its troubled history even while under the MSC flag -- in 1996, the Achille Lauro,
while sailing a passenger cruise, caught fire off the coast of Africa and ultimately sank. All passengers were safely rescued.

Other ships in MSC's early fleet include Melody (1997) and Rhapsody (2001-2009).

The turn of the millennium saw MSC, for the first time commissioning its own series of new-builds.
MSC Lirica, a 59,058-ton, 1,445-passenger vessel, was the first to emerge in April 2003;
MSC Opera, just slightly larger and carrying 1,756 passengers, debuted in June 2004.
Both were christened by Italian actress Sophia Loren (she has been Godmother to all their ships)

Since then, the fleet was bolstered by the acquisition of several vessels from the now defunct First European/Festival.
Now named
MSC Armonia (2004), MSC Sinfonia (2005),
both ships measure 58,625 tons and carry 1,566 passengers.

They have grown to a fleet of 15 ships (2018) with 4 more planned in the next 3 years
