This fine cast glass dog figural inkwell features what I think is a Spaniel on its back legs.  His head tips back to reveal a reservoir for ink.  The collar / hinge ferrules of the piece are gilded brass.  The figure stands on a black glass base.  The frosted glass has a great iridescence that makes it look as though the light is coming from within.  The fur, paws and face of the dog are beautifully delineated.

Other than a tiny chip in the black glass base, This piece is in excellent condition.  It stands 3 7/8"  tall and the base is 2.5" in diameter.  I believe the piece was probably made in America c. 1900.
