The leaf is approximately 12mm x 7mm 

Opals are very delicate gemstones. This is a fragile carving. Take extra care with it. Use 26 gauge or thinner wire with the bead. Use very soft wire, string, or silk. 

Avoid getting it wet. Use a soft cloth to clean and polish.
