The age of this striking Catherine Parker Melton (1888 - 1959) painting is unknown, but artist Catherine Parker Melton was a very prolific painter of landscapes and seascapes, so this piece is at least 65 years old.  I would estimate it was painted in the 1940's - early 1950's based on the frame style. Parker Melton was originally from Nashville, Tennessee and attended Peabody College in Nashville.  She is noted for her landscape paintings of the beautiful countryside that surrounded her, and her paintings are highly collectible today.

This beautiful painting was rendered in shades of gray and black with touches of blue and will work with almost any color palette.  It features a single fisherman, carrying his pole and basket, along a woodland river or stream.  The painting is framed in a solid wood frame that has been painted white, and has a gold metal rim. The picture measures about 13.5 inches in width and is 17.5 inches tall, portrait style, a nice medium size that will work in many places.

The (canvas)  picture itself is in excellent condition, with no visible stains, tears, or holes.  The frame has some normal vintage wear with age-related scratches and scuffs, and there is slight separation of the decorative metal border at the corners (see photos).  but no significant scratches, scuffs, or gouges.  The canvas is securely mounted to the frame.  The hanging bracket is intact and sturdy.   Please see photos and description for more details.

Every effort will be made to minimize the impact of packing and shipping each item.
