We present a super quality full-length portrait study, a working sketch in graphite and  crayon for a larger fixed sculptural installation,   a seated male on  a rustic bench, signed lower-centre, Babatunde B.B. and dated for 1997.  Bunmi Babatunde was born in Nigeria in 1957.  He studied sculpture at the Yaba College of Technology, awarded a Higher National Diploma in 1983.  Establishing his own studio, the following year, Babatunde has created a diverse body of work in wood, bronze, resin and fibreglass, with several major undertakings within Nigeria including the 20-foot Eleganza Bird Statue on the approach road to the city of Alaba.  Committed to fostering the emerging artistic talents from West Africa,  Babatunde established the National Studios of Nigeria alongside fellow artists Bisi Fakeye, Monday Akhidue and Abiodun Olaku.  Babatunde’s sculptural works are collected worldwide through several leading galleries.  Many examples of his work can be seen on artprice.com, artnet.com, arcadia.com and askart.com besides the leading auction houses of christies.com and bonhams.com.  .   Presented in very good overall condition in a contemporary frame, a good quality mount, this painting will look fabulous displayed.
