Das Motiv in Farbe zeigt zentral eine Darstellung von Darth Vader™ mit seinem Lichtschwert sowie eine Schlüsselszene aus dem Film, in der sich Darth Vader™ mit Luke Skywalker™ duelliert - ein absolutes Highlight für jeden STAR WARS™ Fan. Auch das offizielle Emblem zum 40. Jubiläum ist im Design enthalten. Auf der Rückseite sind das Wappen von Niue sowie der Nennwert und das Ausgabejahr abgebildet.

40 years ago, the cult film STAR WARS™ - Return of the Jedi™ appeared on the big screen for the first time. To celebrate this anniversary, the New Zealand Mint has issued this 3 Oz silver coin. The motive in color features a central image of Darth Vader™ with his lightsaber and a key scene from the movie where Darth Vader™ duels Luke Skywalker™ - a highlight for every STAR WARS™ fan. The official 40th anniversary emblem is also included in the design. The reverse features the Niue coat of arms as well as the denomination and year of issue.

Return of the Jedi™ is the sixth episode of George Lucas' STAR WARS™ saga and picks up where the plot of The Empire Strikes Back™ left off. The production deals with the threat of the second Death Star, the construction of which should destroy the Rebels. The alliance around Han Solo™, Luke Skywalker™ and Leia Organa™ once again goes into battle against the Empire, is able to achieve the destruction of the mighty Death Star and finally celebrate the liberation from the Empire's rule. The mintage of the 3 Ounce 99.9% silver coin in proof quality is limited to 1,983 pieces worldwide and refers to the year of release of the film.
