Józef Czapski (1896–1993) – painter, illustrator and writer. He was initially educated in He studied at the Warsaw School of Fine Arts, in the class of Stanisław Lentz, but interrupted his studies, taking part in the Polish-Bolshevik war. Later, he completed his education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, under the supervision of such masters as Wojciech Weiss and Józef Pankiewicz. During his studies, he went to Paris, where he became interested in the works of Paul Cézanne. After returning to Poland in 1931, he took an active part  in the artistic life of Warsaw, and his paintings from that period showed a clear influence of Kapist art. Later, Czapski's painting was characterized by stylistic diversity, which was a combination of many inspirations. The album with an introduction by Dr. Stefani Krzysztofowicz-Kozakowska presents the artist's most important works.
