Escape from New York is a 1981 American post-apocalyptic science-fiction action film co-written, co-scored and directed by John Carpenter. The film is set in what was near-future of 1997, in a crime-ridden United States that has converted Manhattan Island in New York City into the country's maximum security prison. When Air Force One is hijacked by terrorists and crashes into New York City, ex-soldier and federal prisoner Snake Plissken (Kurt Russell) is given 24 hours to go in and rescue the President of the United States. 

Now, Boom! Studio presents the Exclusive - Limited Edition Variant of Issue #1 featuring cover art by Tim Bradstreet. This first issue starts the Boom! Studios comic series which continues the “Escape from New York” story moments after the end of the 1981 film. War hero. Outlaw. Renegade. Snake Plissken's back… and trouble is not far behind.

The crime rate in the United States has risen 400 percent. After humiliating the President in front of the world and destroying America's one chance to end World War III, Snake Plissken has become America's Most Wanted man in a land of criminals and the insane. Everyone wants Snake dead. Luckily, Snake knows the feeling all too well.
