Honeydew Melon "Retato Ortolani" Cucumis Melo L. - can be stored until Christmas. Harvest right before the frosts, store between 10-12 C in a dry place. Fruits are round, the pulp is thick and juicy, light green.
This variety is the most popular Melon because it combines excellent flavour with earliness. They are beautiful, large, oval, ribbed cantaloupe with heavy, golden netting. Ribbed netting turns a golden tint as oval shaped melons mature, many weighing - 1,5 - 3 kg. or few more. The flesh is very thick and deliciously sweet, very fragrant and improves in flavour after picking.
Sowing instuction:
Sow in warmth in April - May in 3 inch pots, 1/2in deep (windowsill or heated greenhouse – 3-4 seeds per pot. 5-10 days germination.
After germination thin to strongest seedlings before planting to pot or ground.
Best grown under cover, but possible in very warm sheltered positions outside.
