Hans Strohofer was a very well-known Austrian painter, illustrator and graphic artist. He studied at the State School of Applied Arts in 1900-1902, then at the famous Studio of Franz Cizek, and in 1902-1908 at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts under W.Schulmeister, O.Czeschka and the famous Koloman Moser. Between 1908 and 1910 Hans Strohofer worked as assistant to Koloman Moser followed by work on panels for the villa of the architect Otto Wagner in 1911-1913. In 1949 he became Professor. He was most famous for his portraits, painting especially female portraits among the sitters the most popular ladies of the Viennese high society and stage scene.
