Vintage Artisan MCM Enamel over Copper Pin Enamelists Natural Design.

This jewelry was created by a small group of enamelists that live and work in northern Minnesota. Combined, artistic backgrounds and knowledge are incorporated in the use of processes, materials and techniques to produce a high-quality collectible, jewelry piece. True enameling is a process of applying granular colored glass to metal. The metal is then fired in a kiln at 1600°. Using this process each copper piece is cut out by hand, enamel is then applied and the piece is fired as many as 15 times in a kiln. Due too enamel variation, kiln temperature and other variables each fine art piece will very slightly color and painting. Because true enameling is a fused glass on a copper base care should be taken in handling jewelry.
