Description: Hardcover. 1928, First Edition. 72 pp. Hardcover, folio, blue cloth-backed boards, gilt title and gilt emblem of the Union of American Republics embossed on the front board, and "First Stage" is stamped on the bottom right corner of the front board. Illustrated throughout with drawings, a large fold-out map showing the site of the prospective monument, and a tipped-in photo of Horacio Vasquez, the President of the Dominican Republic. A Very Good copy. Slight discoloration and rubbing to the spine; light soil to the covers. Insect damage to the top edge of the last page of text, a blank page and the rear fly leaf, but the contents are not affected. The text is bright, clean and unmarked. The tipped-in photo is present, but no longer attached. This book contains a history of the project, as well as the rules and guidelines for the competition. It also includes an architectural history of the Dominican Republic's architecture, with a focus on the Spanish Main. A rare item. Digital images available upon request. Very Good / No Jacket.
