Rudolf Hammel (1862 Vienna - 1937 Vienna) was an established Viennese architect and painter. After attending the Academy of Fine Arts and study trips (Italy, Germany, France), Hammel settled in Vienna as an architect. In 1899 he was the head of the artistic office in the Austrian Museum for Art and Industry and artistic inspector for the textile schools. In 1908 he became the director of the “k. k. Fachschule für Textilindustrie "in Vienna and 1917 inspector at the Ministry of Public Works (participation in the development of the plans for the construction of the vocational training school. In 1920 he retired as a councilor. He worked as an interior designer standing in the foreground of the Viennese Secession movement and the change from Art Nouveau to New Objectivity; he held numerous honors (Golden Medal Trieste 1897, Golden Medal and Grand Prix Paris 1900 and others).
