| With the beautiful Common Nawab (Polyura atbamas) | The Common Nawab (Polyura athamas) is a large butterfly native to South and Southeast Asia. The wingspan of males is about 7-8 cm, while females are slightly larger. The wing tops of males are dark brown to black with white spots and an orange band along the outer edge. Females' wings are similarly colored but with larger white spots and a broader orange band. The undersides of the wings are brown with whitish and yellowish spots and stripes. The Common Nawab is a known migrant and can be seen in large flocks of hundreds or even thousands of individuals moving in search of nectar sources. The caterpillars feed on several species of trees and shrubs, including Indian laurel (Litsea glutinosa), rose apple (Syzygium jambos), and Indian coffee tree (Coffea arabica). The Common Nawab is a beautiful species that stands out for its size, vibrant colors, and distinctive flight. A popular species with butterfly enthusiasts and nature watchers, it is a symbol of the beauty and diversity of tropical fauna. |

| Species protection is very important to us: | We guarantee that you will only receive groomed animals that have been bred and protect species. With each import, the legally required species protection test is carried out (with a dealer outside the European Union, e.g. Thailand, you have to arrange this species protection test yourself if you are checked by customs). We get most of our animals from a small breeding farm on the outskirts of Chiang Mai in Thailand. In this breeding operation, particular attention is paid to compliance with species protection regulations. Unfortunately, this is not the case everywhere. However, due to the very high fines for violations in Thailand itself and the necessary species protection test when importing to Germany, it has developed in such a way that violations have been occurring less and less for many years. Before we introduce our insects, we check them for species protection. Customs then takes over species protection in Germany. All our articles are presented and checked here.
