Photograph Notes: The ruin is shown on the first-edition OS map (c.1860) as Muirmailin, and as Muir Mailand on Roy's Military Survey (1740s-50s). Its long axis was oriented NW-SE. The remains of the building have been piled up to form this mound, close to what would have been the SW wall. Despite this, the line of the original walls could still be discerned. One of them is shown in [[1834214]]; the course of the other three is not quite so clear on the ground. The OS Object Name Book (1890s) for this area says of Muirmailin that "this place so called was formerly a dwelling-house but is now used as a place of cattle. Gavin Marshall occupier."
