According to vintagefashionguild.org/fashion-history/vintage-patterns, "Advance....was quite successful from the 1940s through the 1960s. It appears to have gone out of business by the late 1960s. Advance was one of the pattern companies that Mattel authorized to make patterns for their Barbie fashion doll. They also did a limited line of designer patterns during the 1950s. Three of the designers for this line were Adrian, Edith Head and Anne Fogarty."

The Advance Pattern Company released sewing patterns under the Advance brand name from 1933 until 1966. They were featured in Woman's Home Companion magazine in the 1950s. The patterns were sold exclusively by J.C. Penney and the company was later sold to Puritan Fashions in 1966, who stopped using the Advance name."

ABOUT THE COLLECTION

My love of fun paper ephemera continues!  I just picked up several boxes (hundreds?) of vintage sewing patterns, so please follow my store to see more.  Includes clothing patterns for dresses, robes, pajamas, hats, crafts, kid's clothes, vests, shrugs, ponchos, jumpsuits, pants and costumes.  Brands include Vogue, Butterick, McCalls, Simplicity, Folkwear, Advance, Workbasket, Kwik-Sew and more.  Dates range from the 1940s to 2010 or so.
