Heavy-duty, antique door hinges salvaged from an old building in Northeastern PA. Each pair was made sometime during the first half of the previous century and comes with 16, steel, flathead screws.

Originally, all hinges were copper plated and finished with black lacquer (Japanned). Most of the copper and some of the lacquer remain. The degree of plating and finish varies from hinge to hinge, see  the 2 group photos to compare.

At the point of salvage, we found the hinges painted white and dirty. Since then, we removed the paint, and cleaned them to the best of our ability.

Considering that the hinges are about 100 years old, they are in great condition. They have nicks and scratches--what you would expect to find on old hardware. However, there are no breaks, cracks, gouges, or chips. The hinges are perfectly straight, the pins slide out easily, the hinges themselves open and close effortlessly.

Unlike the hinges made today, which you could buy at your local hardware store; these hinges are thicker, heavier, and stronger. They are made of pure, solid, forged steel, not a cheap composite or alloy, and were built to last a lifetime. If you are planning on using these hinges to hang a new door, it's a very good chance that you'll end up replacing the door before the hinges!
